Roundup: Photo Assignment 3
Closing The Absence of Light
Last week, we invited you to notice light by looking at its trace: shadow.
The challenge ↓
Create one photograph in which shadow plays an intentional, visible role.
And what followed? A community gallery filled with unique photographs, each offering a different approach to how shadows can shape an image.
Some of you used shadow to add depth and dimension to your scenes, while others used shadow to frame their subject in unexpected ways.
A few photographers even made shadow the main element of their compositions, proving that sometimes, the absence of light can be just as compelling as its presence.
View the Community Gallery
The gallery for Photo Assignment 3 is live and packed with submissions from all around the world.
Notice the characteristics of light (hard or soft), its direction (from the side, front, or back), and how photographers guide the viewer’s eye through the frame.
Go ahead — browse through, find inspiration, and maybe even leave a few kind words for fellow photographers.
In case you missed the assignment ↓
What’s next
Photo Assignment 4 arrives this Friday, November 14.
We’ll reveal a new theme, new creative guidance, and another chance to submit your work to the community gallery.
Best,
The CameraSetup Team
